Academy Of Truck Driving We are now in our tenth year as a training organization for commercial trucks and buses, and we are proud to announce that we have rapidly become a leader in our field. This year promises continued success as we strengthen our focus on job placement and job retention as well as expand our curriculum to include a Safe Commercial Driving seminar.

Our training facilities are strategically located at the Port of Oakland/Oakland Army Base, which is in the hub of Oakland's trucking activity. Training at this location routinely exposes our students to the realities and opportunities of the trucking industry. The second location is in Stockton, CA supporting our central valley students. Our instructors have extensive, long-term commercial driving experience and are certified by the State of California.

Our staff is highly-skilled in the trucking trade and vocational education, and our entire team is committed to supporting our students in preparing to enter promising careers as Commercial Drivers. Additionally, we enjoy strong partnerships and collaboration with Bay Area funding agencies and job placement organizations.

Critical: Communication, Professionalism Bad front desk employee. Tried to start school I called no body answer. I went there in person waited 15 minutes and told me to keep waiting even though she was there the whole time.

Critical: Communication, Professionalism I called and emailed this place regarding the courses they offer. No one calls back or responded to my email. I can't even imagine what kind of student support (NONE) if I DO get enrolled. I will take my money elsewhere.

I love this school. I came never have driven a stick at all so double clutching was intimidating to me also never been in a big truck either but I can say the staff here really cares about the quality of student they put out there and while I am still a student with a couple weeks left I can say that my confidence is out the roof and I believe in myself on that road now.

Off top I give my thanks and appreciation to A.J Mr. Eddie Mr. Lee and my boy Lavelle. Major props to all y'all. And can't forget Misses Connie and Keisha love and appreciation for welcoming me into your family and household. The Academy is where it's at no cap.

I wasted whole year trying to obtain my commercial liscence at this school. Faulty equipment, Inconsistent Trainers, . If you're a novice like myself, don't waste your time!

Lavel is the best teacher. I took my class back in 2016 and it's been nothing but up since then. He was so helpful and went over and beyond. Such a great school. I suggest anyone interested in driving to go to this school! They are very patient and helpful!

I know your a lousy school because you turned me down after I told you that the Veterans were paying for it. I can remember how you looked when you did. And what you said to me too.

I had a negative experience with A J one day at this school after he let me he isn't taking any white skin guys to instruct here.

The school was fine initially. After two weeks I moved up to AJ the advanced instructor. AJ couldnt be a worse instructor if he tried. He is incredibly impatient and only knows how to yell and scream. On a daily basis he tells you he is doing you a big big favor. Yet he NEVER takes the time to explain things as a mature rational patient instructor/mentor.

He yells, screams all day when he's there. The rest of the time he is off screwing around somewhere. He thinks he is the smartest person around and clearly he will never be as smart as he thinks, ever. He gets into shouting matches with students regularly. I was taken on very few drives on the street. Only two with AJ. He switches your test days at the last minute for no apparent reason.

Its clear he has mental issues. He has never had real world trucking experience. He was a friend of the family who needed a job and so they trained him. I was able to finish quickly elsewhere. But I resent the time I wasted at this school under AJ. AJ is a loser doing only himself any favors. Very unprofessional and a waste of resource.

The Class B class is the best! The teacher Lavell is the best teacher! He goes over and beyond for his students. Every student that was in my class got their Class B license and a job. I would recommend this school to anyone. The only thing I regret is not finding out about this school sooner.

I have given Academy of Truck Driving 5 stars because they deserve it! As a female commercial driver I did my research and this is the trucking school I chose and I'm so happy I did, My instructor was Todd and he was awesome! They made me feel comfortable as a female and I had no problem working with all the guys as a female. I now have a great job as a bus driver for a major transportation company making great money!

If your looking for a great truck driving school Academy of truck driving is your school! This school is certified thru the EDD office as one of their top training program for the WIA participants if you qualify for free training.

These guys are the best! You'll learn everything you need to know about driving a commercial vehicle and earning your CDL. You'll learn in the classroom and behind the wheel. You'll be well prepared on exactly what going to happen on your drive test. Classes are small, so you get individual training as well as learn from other experienced students. AND they also assist with job placement. I trained under AJ, he's the best!

The hubby recently completed his Class B at ATD and we highly recommend them. Although there were some bumps in the road (no pun intended) they came through in the end. According to the hubby A.J. and Lavel are the best and they seem to really work with the students to find out what their strengths and weaknesses are. Would defiantly recommend ATD to anyone seeking to get their CDL!

I attended the Stockton location and Woodrow Lucas was my instructor. I went from a "B" CDL to an "A" CDL in two weeks and learned much more than I expected. Woodrow is a great instructor! Calm, patient, can convey his message in multiple ways, just awesome! The equipment is in good repair and relevant to what one would drive in the "real world".

I was very adequately prepared for the exam and successful on my first attempt, largely due to the quality instruction. I am slated to begin training at the company of my choice just two weeks after completing the program too! My class was "me" and the one on one instruction was invaluable. I couldn't expect a more positive experience for twice the price, but this was among the most affordable (and fastest) programs I found. Great program and thanks again Woodrow.

Great school if you're looking to get behind the wheel of a Big rig. The instructors, A.J., Oscar & Jay, really know there stuff & will work w/you until you get it right. Let's face it it's not rocket science but, it's not for everyone either. They have 3 trucks & a full size bus for you to train in+a HUGE lot located at the port of Oakland for you to practice in.

They put you behind the wheel on your 1st day! Also they offer a shuttle to & from BART everyday(important for me since I don't own a car) I highly recommend A.T.D. If you're serious about your Class A or B license. Ya can't go wrong!
