Rhodes Driving School Our most popular course is the Teen Driver Program for 14-17 year olds. It includes state mandated and approved instruction in the classroom and in the car. Our instructors keep parents informed of student progress in class and make recommendations to ready students for the road and licensing requirements. The new State law requires that parents/guardians provide additional behind the wheel practice before their students are eligible to take the test.

For 18-25 year olds, we provide a state approved classroom course designed specifically for your age group. This course is required in order to apply for a permit or a license. For current permit holders/less experienced drivers, individual behind the wheel lessons can be reserved.

Teens When Texas enacted the Graduated Driver License Program it didn't change the basic requirements for obtaining a license. It divided the requirements into two phases for those applicants under the age of 18. As long as you are between the ages of 14 and 17, you must enroll in a State approved Driver Education program.
Defensive Driving

Defensive Driving We offer a Classroom Course for $35 at our Ellison Office. (Note: payment in full is required 3 days before scheduled classroom instruction for the classroom course.) Call the Ellison office for class dates and times.
Private Lessons
Report
Private Lessons You can sign up for private lessons with our trained professional instructors. If you are under the age of 18, these lessons do not count towards the 34 hours of in-car instruction required by law. If you are over 18, you will need to provide a valid Instruction (Learners) Permit or Drivers License at registration and at each lesson. For pricing, call the location closest to you.

Same experience as everyone else below. They take your money complete first part ok but the driving part time expired due to covid complications taking us too long to get appointments to get drivers permit and when my son was finally ready to schedule for the driving hours hes told hes not able to and we have to pay more money to teach him ourselves.

This place would be great if you didn't have to pay so much just to get scammed. The first school/class portion of it was easy and simple with a flexible schedule and make up days but they scam you by not giving you reminders on your contract deadline as well as not giving you enough information on the actual drives. They only give you a year to finish everything but that is not enough time especially when they only give you one drive a month and with COVID and having to reschedule your DMV appointments to get your permit you're left with not enough time to complete everything which will result in your have to pay for everything all over again.

I wish I could give a 0 star. They never answer the phone. I have called 50 times in one day and NOTHING! I have never been able to book a driving lesson online. Do not waste your money.

Very frustrating experience with this school, the first part was fine no problems with the actual classes. The big problem was the actual drive times, first when starting the drive times they fail to tell you that you can only get a drive once every 30 days. I had my sister have her first drive time, and try every day after to get another. Not knowing the system wouldn't allow her to schedule another drive for 30 days, and being very discouraged.

It took a phone call, which don't get me started with trying to get in touch with someone here, to find this information out, then putting a plan in place to finish the drive times only to have the time frame expire, and having to pay a premium to get the remaining drive times. I can not express how frustrated I am with this driving school. Proper expectations were never set, and that's my real problem I will never recommend Rhodes driving school to any parent, or friend taking care of a younger sibling ever.

Wonderful trainers with flexible schedule. I highly recommend Rhodes for not just high school students, but also for people migrating from other countries. They teach you by comparing the rules followed from where you are. I had my drivers license through RDL and its my sons turn now.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality The driving hours are not sufficient for the amount of people they signed up for. I have only been able to book 2 sessions. Going to have to pay extra now so I can make sure my daughter completes all her driving hours with me now.

Critical: Communication, Quality, Value We signed up in April and they haven't had a single time that we can sign up for driving. I got a notice that there was an opening, while sitting at my computer. By the time I logged in, the session was gone. They have a ton of students and 3 drive times. for the month so far. Such a rip off!

If you scroll through the comments you'll notice that the comments coming from the students are all very positive and the ones from parents very negative. Do NOT give them your money. It's almost impossible to schedule driving lessons. You log in, but there are never any lessons available. They refuse to schedule out the whole 7 lessons ahead of time.

You have to do one at a time and wait 30 days between lessons. They'll refuse to schedule a lesson through the phone unless you've signed into the scheduling site multiple times. I gave up and transferred them to Hendricks where they can get all their lessons scheduled out within a month.

I took the driving test today, 2/17/18, at Rhodes. I was upset when first of all my driving examiner showed up 20 minuets late, and then when we finally started he failed me without giving me my three tries on the parallel parking. He only gave me one. Then when I asked him about it he was rude, demeaning, and very obnoxious. I believe I deserve a full refund on the testing payment. I would not recommend anyone take a driving test here. It was ridiculous that I was only given one try. I will not be rescheduling with Rhodes for my driving test.

Horrible driving school. I pretty much taught my daughter myself. Then no certificate to dps. This is a do it all yourself and give them 400$ for nothing school. I found this out the hard way. I would suggest another.

I bought a Groupon for a teen driver on Feb 24, 2017. I have called several times and left messages and contact information and have not received a call back yet. Today is March 14, 2017. After reading some of the reviews, I intend to ask for a refund. I would suggest finding a business who is happy to help you and your teen instead of this business who doesn't care.

I absolutely LOVED this driving school! Everyone is very friendly and they make it easy to learn. Scheduling drives was very easy and they are more than willing to work with your schedule. I personally purchased the "Premier Package, " and they honored every thing that was included in that package. At the end of the course my mother and I were very happy. We will continue using this school for my brother as well.

I am a mother of three and this was our first child to go through a driver's ed program. We attended the Brook Hollow and 281 location because it is closest to our home and I was extremely pleased because the staff very knowledgeable and made it very convenient to get through the process. I greatly appreciate all the help I received and education we received and I will definitely be bringing my other two children to this program. :-

Driver's Ed is divided into two portions: classroom and drive times. Rhodes on Brookhollow does a fine job with the classroom portion but it is the drive times that they do not treat their customers well. You need 7 hours of observation and 7 hours of actual driving. They USED to put two kids in a car and each kid got an hour of observation and an hour of driving.

The other Rhodes' schools do this, but NOT Brookhollow. Now, the Brookhollow location places THREE kids in that two hour slot so guess what happens? Instead of receiving the one hour and one hour, they now receive FORTY MINUTES of driving and ONE HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES of observation. So observation hours are completed in no time at all! Great huh?

But DRIVE TIMES take FOREVER to complete. So your child will have to come in for the TWO HOUR times slot and only need to be there for FORTY MINUTES. So they are at forced to sit through an hour and twenty minutes of somebody else driving when they do not need to be there. It is so unfair. So wrong. On top of this, you can only schedule a time slot every EIGHT DAYS.

And you can only schedule drives times on Mondays from 11:00 AM until 11:15 AM and on Wednesdays from 6:00 PM until 6:15 PM. IT IS MADDENING! They will tell you that the scheduling is actually for two hours on each of these days but I have been at this long enough to know that is not true at all. either you are available for that 15 minute window or you can forget another week of trying to schedule something.

It is a poorly poorly run business. They simply do not care that they have made it so difficult for their customers. They waste precious time for these kids when they could be doing homework or other important things.

This place is not run like any business I have ever associated with. There is absolutely NO customer service or even a pretense of customer service at the Brookhollow location. As other reviewers have mentioned Diana has the attitude she is doing the customer a favor by being allowed to actually speak with her instead of the answering machine (which remains on the entire time they are suppose to be "open").

It takes 24 to 72 hours for a call back from Diana when leaving a message. When I pointed this out to her ( when she called me after 2 days) she graciously offered to assist me quicker if I would like to drive over to their office. She also stated she is short staffed and can not answer the calls daily and they are trying to hire more staff. (She has been saying the same thing since July.) Being as I have a JOB quite a distance from their office, I countered that would not be practical for me to drive 40 minutes across town to ask a question.

She then stated I could e-mail my questions, but that would take 2-3 days as well for a reply. ARRRGGGG.does this sound helpful to anyone! I eventually became completely frustrated with her condescending attitude and asked to speak with a manager, she stated that would not be possible and would forward my concerns to the appropriate person. She then stated she had business to tend to and "DID NOT APPRECIATE MY ATTITUDE" and hung up on me! Needless to say.

I DID NOT GET MY QUESTIONS ANSWERED! As I have already paid for my daughters course in full and can not seem to get any answers from these people.all I can do is vent in this forum and report them to the Better Business Bureau.

I don't know how this place stays in business. Classroom portion was great, had an assigned day and time to attend. It's nearly impossible to get your drives in. Took us over a year then they wanted to charge more for going past the 6 month contract time. Very poor customer service, this business needs an overhaul.

In addition to the lack of in car driving opportunities, Diana in the Brookhollow office was combative and rude when we asked for a transfer document. (DE968) We would NEVER recommend Rhodes Driving school to anyone. What a frustrating experience. There are other driving schools in the San Antonio area.
