We believe that the driver trainee and the trainer's security is of the utmost importance, so we installed in each car a camera hooked up to a 60 gig hard drive that films what is going on in each car. This video is used for only protection and cannot be viewed by the trainer or the trainee. It is only in place for the safety and welfare of both people in the car. As a company we strive to bring the most professional and experienced staff to serve, protect and equip the students of Central Pennsylvania.In 2010 we teamed up with a number of Schools in central Pennsylvania to offer an exciting online driver education course for an affordable rate. This course is available for school districts and individuals students who are in need of taking a driver education course that is convenient and affordable.

Alan Smith
Instructor
Alan Smith has been with Shield for about 2 years. He has served in many different roles through his career. He served in the military and for Verdelli farms. During the last 5 years at Verdelli he was the transportation manager and oversaw numerous functions including certification procedures and traffic and safety issues. Alan has also served as a Pennsylvania Driver license examiner throughout the greater Harrisburg area. Alan brings a lot of experience on the road and an extensive background in how Penndot operates and his thoroughness to the details of driver behavior makes him a valuable part of the team.
Dan Kelly
Instructor
Dan has been with Shield Driving from almost the beginning. Dan brings a multitude of achievements and accolades to the table. He has served in every aspect of traffic safety and traffic education that is possible in the police department. His distinguished career in the Derry Township led to him being promoted to lieutenant for the last few years of his 28 years at Derry Township. Dan achievements rang form being awarded the governor traffic safety award twice to 52 letters of commendation from citizens to the Attorney Generals office. Dan is also responsible for checking all the backgrounds of our new hires to make sure they pass a thorough review of their credentials and to make sure that the people we hire are credible and will keep each and every one of the students they teach safe.
William Doughty
Instructor
Bill has come to Shield Driving in the last year and brings a wealth of knowledge to the school in his experience working on the road driving truck professionally to being involved in the classroom as a substitute where he has a passion teaching and working with young adults. Bill also served as an examiner for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for over 7 years where he trained and tested young drivers. Bill has a great understanding of the Pennsylvania motor vehicle code and the day to day operations of Penndot which is so valuable to young people and parents today.

This was such an awesome experience for my son. He learned a lot of great driving skills, and how to watch others on the roadway. For me it was wonderful because they picked him up from school and dropped him back home. For parents like myself who may work odd hours or multiple jobs it was great knowing he was still able to have lessons. It relived a lot of stress of trying to logistically find ways for him to get to lessons. All the trainers, administrative staff and testers were very easy to get along with.

Everyone at Shield was fantastic! Excellent experience for my learning driver, basically stress free: Mr. Johnson was patient, thorough, communicated very well w/ my 16yo. Their way of teaching parallel parking was a BREEZE for him, really bolstering his confidence. Instructors were ALWAYS on time and did whatever they could to help make the learning experience easier--on both of us! When I'm 94 and need a retest I'm coming here! THANK YOU!

This school has done what I needed the most. and. that was to teach me and help me accomplish my number one goal and that was to get a driver's license. now today with a experience of shield and god himself I ended up getting a driver's license that I never had and it was 27 years but today with the help of Josh and Jeremy I ended up passing. with being taught from Josh he has taught me how to parallel park and that was awesome experience once he showed me how I did it every single time he's a very very great. trainer to be able to help you get your test when you're very very first try thank you so much shield for all the opportunities that you have given me what to open up and be able to drive and give my daughter the life that she needed and that was transportation with God and himself in a school I use I have to clean my goal thank you guys so much from the very bottom of my heart

I am a older learner over 40 and just learning to drive. All of my instructors made me feel comfortable and not like an oddity. They worked around my schedule and it was a very pleasant experience. Well worth every penny. The 6 hours of solid instruction really gave me a lot of confidence when it was time to take the test. Thank you Shield driving thank you so much. I highly recommend.

Confidence in driving! We wanted to give our teen driver every resource available to help them in navigating being a new driver. Shield Driving School was worth every penny, we signed up for the online course and behind the wheel. Because our teen was already driving for several months with a permit, this experience wrapped up the learning with much more thorough instruction.
Our teen was lucky enough to have Mr. Hughes for all 3 lessons. He was so friendly and professional and our teen really enjoyed his drives with him! And, taking the test at their locations was super convenient and worked so well with sports/school schedules. THANK YOU Shield Driving School. Brad, Rob, Jeremy - You guys were so great to work with!

I've used Shield for both of my children. Most recently my daughter took 6 hours of lessons with Shield and then took her driver's test the first day that she qualified to take it. We decided to utilize Shield's road test option because we couldn't schedule her DMV until 14 days after she qualified to take it. That was the best decision. Not only did my daughter get her license as soon as possible, but Shield prepared her very well for the test and it was very low stress for both of us. I would highly recommend Shield Driving School lessons as well as their road test option.

I am so grateful to the people at this school! I have a son with some special needs who is entirely capable of learning to drive. However, things were not going well with me, his mom. I tried for 3 years until I thought a professional could be more effective. He passed his driving test after instruction from Shields! The teacher was kind, competent, and patient. She knew how to teach so he could learn. I love seeing how proud he is of himself. Thanks to everyone at this school for helping my son!
