Business Details
We have created a comprehensive defensive driving program that prepares students for driving in the real world. Our organization was established shortly after Robert Fenn purchased Silver Key School at the beginning of 2006, giving us deep roots in the Idaho community. We are led by Robert Fenn, who holds degrees in Management and Accounting from Boise State University and Santa Monica College, and Nicole Fenn, a certified teacher who earned her degree in Education at Boise State University and has worked in the education system since 1996. Our instructors are certified professionals, and Robert is a certified skills tester for the State of Idaho. We have developed an 8 class, 8 drive program that is proven successful because we refuse to take shortcuts. Many other private schools only offer online classes or schedule three 2-hour drives without completing the 6-hour in-car observation requirement, but we maintain the highest standards.
We understand that students have hectic schedules, so we accommodate any schedule and allow make-up classes for sporting events, concerts, or family activities. Our behind-the-wheel lessons are tailored to individual ability and skill level, and we maintain a no-fail policy, making every reasonable effort to ensure a student learns what they need to know. We also offer Insurance License Classes through our sister organization, leveraging Robert's experience as a Certified Insurance Counselor who has been actively involved in the insurance industry since 1991. Our team, including instructors like Sharron Clark and Jerry Farr, brings decades of combined educational experience to every lesson. We are dedicated to providing a top-notch education that is worth the investment, ensuring students feel safe and confident behind the wheel.

In-Person Classes
Our in-person classes provide a structured classroom environment taught by certified teachers like Nicole Fenn, who has been in education since 1996. This traditional format ensures students receive a top-notch defensive driving education while enjoying interactive lessons that make learning fun. It is an ideal solution for students who thrive on face-to-face instruction and direct engagement with our experienced instructors.
Online Classes
We offer online drivers ed classes for students who require a flexible learning environment outside of a physical classroom. This option allows students to complete their required coursework on their own schedule without sacrificing the quality of our comprehensive defensive driving program. It is designed to provide the same rigorous educational foundation while accommodating the hectic schedules of modern student life.
Private Lessons
Our private behind-the-wheel lessons are customized to individual ability and skill level, typically structured as 8 sessions of 45 minutes that can be adjusted longer or shorter as needed. These lessons are conducted by certified professionals like Robert Fenn, a state-certified skills tester, ensuring expert guidance in both automatic and stick shift vehicles. Students benefit from a flexible, no-fail approach that guarantees they master the necessary skills to become safe drivers.
Skills Test
We offer official skills testing services administered by our owner, Robert Fenn, who is a currently certified skills tester for the State of Idaho. This service provides a convenient and authoritative final assessment for students who have completed their driving instruction and are ready to obtain their license. It ensures that the evaluation is conducted by a professional with deep institutional knowledge of our comprehensive training standards.
Insurance License Classes
We provide specialized Insurance License Classes leveraging the extensive industry experience of our founder, Robert Fenn, who has been actively involved in the insurance industry since 1991. These courses are backed by his Certified Insurance Counselor designation and his history of teaching insurance classes across Idaho since 2006. My daughter just finished & passed her drivers test with flying colors! I feel like she got the BEST education through Idaho driving school. While I was annoyed at the time, she had so many different drives, instructors & observation times. It was many trips to the school. Looking back, this was a huge benefit to her! I'm grateful for the quality of classroom education & the different experiences that she had with each instructor. I would highly recommend them!

The owner is such a great teacher, he is really fun and i really enjoyed driving with his school. His jokes are amazing and he is really engaging with the kids. He really wants you to pass, doesn't just try to get it over with. Best driving school you will find in Idaho.

My son just finished his drivers training this morning. He is autistic, and we weren't really sure how things would go for him. I let Rob know the situation beforehand and he was an amazing instructor for him! Definitely went the extra mile to make sure he was ready to go-even had me go on his last drive so I could see what he needed to work on. I 100% recommend Idaho Driving School. This is my second child going through this program and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Thanks Rob!

They did an amazing job educating 2 of my children. Their staff I'd professional, and a pleasure to work with. Their cars are top notch, and the variety they have made my kids excited for their next drive. I highly recommend Idaho driving school if you are looking for an amazing, down to earth relaxed driving school.

The kids love it! Fun yellow cars and engaging instructors. The kids seem to be more interested and better prepared for the road than some programs. They let guardians know if their kids may need additional help with some potential trouble-spots based on the in-car experience. Good bunch of people! Highly recommended.

After being out-of-state for the past four years, and upon returning, I realised that traffic and driving patterns had changed in Boise and after interviewing a few driver's ed companies, I settled on the Idaho Driving School for my teen. She did not have to take the class, but as THAT mom who does not leave anything to chance, I enrolled her, and it was the best decision ever! You get more than you pay for.
The curriculum is comprehensive and thorough; the additional information and personal driving experiences shared really helped my child understand how multi-dimensional driving is. My teen enjoyed every class, made new friends, and loved the in-car experience! I am grateful to the entire team for their investment, knowledge, and expertise. I highly recommend this company for all new drivers, teen and adult. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This was the best class ever. I'm truly sad that it's ending. I have bonded with all of the instructors and all of the students very fast and will miss everyone very much, especially rob he is great. I have never once bin bored in this class and was entertained the whole time. The drives were fun and I felt comfortable and wasn't nervous at all. I highly recommend this place, you make great friends, get close with instructors, and have a great time and learn lots. Idaho driving school deserves all of these 5 stars every bit. Goodbye I will miss everyone.
