We believe that the driver trainee and the trainer's security is of the utmost importance, so we installed in each car a camera hooked up to a 60 gig hard drive that films what is going on in each car. This video is used for only protection and cannot be viewed by the trainer or the trainee. It is only in place for the safety and welfare of both people in the car. As a company we strive to bring the most professional and experienced staff to serve, protect and equip the students of Central Pennsylvania.

In 2010 we teamed up with a number of Schools in central Pennsylvania to offer an exciting online driver education course for an affordable rate. This course is available for school districts and individuals students who are in need of taking a driver education course that is convenient and affordable.

Alan Smith

Instructor

Alan Smith has been with Shield for about 2 years. He has served in many different roles through his career. He served in the military and for Verdelli farms. During the last 5 years at Verdelli he was the transportation manager and oversaw numerous functions including certification procedures and traffic and safety issues. Alan has also served as a Pennsylvania Driver license examiner throughout the greater Harrisburg area. Alan brings a lot of experience on the road and an extensive background in how Penndot operates and his thoroughness to the details of driver behavior makes him a valuable part of the team.

Dan Kelly

Instructor

Dan has been with Shield Driving from almost the beginning. Dan brings a multitude of achievements and accolades to the table. He has served in every aspect of traffic safety and traffic education that is possible in the police department. His distinguished career in the Derry Township led to him being promoted to lieutenant for the last few years of his 28 years at Derry Township. Dan achievements rang form being awarded the governor traffic safety award twice to 52 letters of commendation from citizens to the Attorney Generals office. Dan is also responsible for checking all the backgrounds of our new hires to make sure they pass a thorough review of their credentials and to make sure that the people we hire are credible and will keep each and every one of the students they teach safe.

William Doughty

Instructor

Bill has come to Shield Driving in the last year and brings a wealth of knowledge to the school in his experience working on the road driving truck professionally to being involved in the classroom as a substitute where he has a passion teaching and working with young adults. Bill also served as an examiner for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for over 7 years where he trained and tested young drivers. Bill has a great understanding of the Pennsylvania motor vehicle code and the day to day operations of Penndot which is so valuable to young people and parents today.
