AA Indiana Driving School was established in 1945, making it the first driving school licensed by the State of Indiana. Our driving school has been family owned and operated for over 75 years, ensuring a personal touch in all our services. We are under the direction and supervision of qualified professional educators, including current and former school teachers. Our driving instructors are trained and licensed in driver education, many holding bachelor's and master's degrees in education. We are committed to your welfare as a student driver and after you've obtained your license. We employ advanced training methods developed through years of research, development, education, and experience. With the complex rules and requirements regarding licensing in Indiana, we understand the process can be confusing, but we're here to help every step of the way. Our instructors are certified in special education to teach students on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities. We offer flexible scheduling options including online classes, traditional classroom instruction, and behind-the-wheel lessons.We're proud to have over 200 years of combined experience in driver's education. We accept both teenagers and adult drivers, ensuring our services are accessible to all. Our goal is to make the learning process engaging and informative through presentations, discussions, videos, and group activities. We provide accommodations for students with IEPs or who need additional support such as having tests read to them. We're committed to helping students obtain their driver's education permit by providing the necessary CDE form upon registration. If you complete both our online and in-car instruction, you can take the final road test with us rather than at the BMV. Services
Online Driving Class
Our online driver education program allows students to complete the classroom portion at their own pace while meeting state requirements. The 30-hour course includes interactive modules with scheduled breaks, quizzes, and a final exam. Students can access the program 24/7 but must complete it over at least two weeks.
Traditional Classroom Instruction
In-person traditional classes provide engaging learning through presentations, discussions, videos, and group activities in our state-of-the-art classroom. The 30-hour course includes textbooks, workbooks, and state driver's manuals. We accommodate students with special needs and offer make-up sessions when necessary.
Behind the Wheel Program
Our behind-the-wheel training includes six hours of professional instruction covering essential driving skills. The package includes a one-year AAA membership with roadside assistance. Lessons can be scheduled after 5pm and on weekends to accommodate different schedules.
Road Skills Test
We administer official state-required road skills tests, eliminating the need to visit BMV offices. Tests are available for teens who completed our program, adults without complete education, and individuals who finished programs elsewhere. Our instructors provide a familiar testing environment for reduced stress.
Special Education Driving Instruction
Certified instructors provide specialized training for students on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities. Our educators have expertise in adapting teaching methods to individual needs while maintaining state driving standards. We offer personalized support throughout the learning process.
Questions
What are the requirements to get a driver's education permit?
To obtain a driver education permit, students must be at least 15 years old and provide a birth certificate or current passport.
Can I take the final road test at your school instead of the BMV?
If you complete both our online and in-car instruction, you can take the final road test with us instead of at the BMV.
How long does the online driving course take to complete?
The online program must be completed in a minimum of two weeks and has a 6-month deadline from registration date.
Do you offer special accommodations for students with learning challenges?
Yes, we have instructors certified in special education to teach students on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities.
Are your driving lessons available after regular business hours?
Yes, driving lessons are available after 5:00pm and weekends at scheduled times.
What options do I have if I've already completed a driving course elsewhere?
If you completed a full program elsewhere, we can administer the road skills test upon receiving your completion documentation.

Highly Recommended. Great School. Best experience ever. Neat Cars, Excellent instructors and professional management sums up the school. All my instructors are excellent teachers and are very cool and patient. Classes begin at the scheduled time and for 1 hour duration. During the classes, Instructors made sure that i understand the rules correctly and they have corrected my mistakes. I enrolled for full course (30 hrs online and 6 behind the wheels), It is definitely worth it and successfully got my license.
There was a issue getting my license with BMV. Tina personally followed up with BMV and visited BMV with me and helped me in getting the license. Thankyou Brent, Larry, Kent, Tina and Rhonda for your help. The experience was super cool.

The instructors are great at guiding teen drivers and the lessons progress at a good pace. The driving test experience was much better with them than at the bmv. Definetly recommend!

Update: I had a second teen go thru this driving school. Very smooth process and my daughter enjoyed her drives with Mr. Ward. He was pleasant and communicative. Overall our experience has been great. We ran into a few bumps on driving lessons through no fault of AA Indiana Driving school with weather issues and then the COVID shut down. I have been impressed with how the driving school has adapted and worked with us through this time period.
My son had no issues with any of the instructors and had a great experience with Mike Ward. We were a little concerned after reading some of the reviews regarding other's experience with this particular instructor online previously but we found the complete opposite. He was pleasant and extremely helpful on the phone and my son enjoyed his driving time with Mike.

I started their class to help me to drive and fell confident while doing it. I've loved everything about it they help me understand what I'm doing wrong and explain to me what needs working on and how to do that. Overall I've had the best time and can't wait to take more of my classes. 4/20/22 I just did my road test with Marty and it was fantastic. I end up passing and I was so nervous but Rhonda, and Priscilla help calm me down. I've had the most wonderful experience with them and can't thank them enough for all they have so for me.
